Trudy

Trudy was my first build and is now going strong at 30 years old. She has crossed Bass Strait 8 times, including one memorable occasion when returning home from Wynyard she self steered for 27 hours with the tiller lashed and no one in the cockpit.( Too Wet, ) She had sailed 10 miles off the rum line to windward, and headed for the western entrance instead of Cape Woolamai.

G'day,

Interesting concept but, how come you have only built two yachts in 30 years? Surely this way of building would be in big-time demand?

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill, Alan Lucas did an article about the build process, and introduced it as " A mile stone in the history of boat building. " I got one phone call two years later. He also said in a letter to me that the idea would either sweep the world or be put on the shelf. I just don't think the home builders are out there like a generation ago. Today you just borrow the money. My 19 footer has the interior done, 50 hrs in the steel and 50 hrs in the interior and at a cost of $1000. Its just amazing. I have only worked part time and haven't had the resources to promote it further. By the way how many boats have you built in the last 30 years.
Cheers Peter
